The Madison Soccer Club Recreation Program is open to children from Pre-k through 8th grade who live in Madison, Harding, and neighboring towns. The Recreation Program is a robust and thriving program that boasts over 500 players across boys and girls teams. This is a perfect option for players who do not wish to make the commitment necessary for participation in the travel program, or who are still developing the skills necessary to compete at higher levels. Our Recreation Program was developed in partnership with our training staff in accordance with the guidelines set forth by US Soccer. The long-term development of players is key to the success of the national game, and we recognize that this will require hours of commitment and no shortcuts at any level. The focus of our Recreation Program is on individual player development, emphasizing skills and techniques, through a high number of touches on the ball. Our aim is to foster ability and confidence when in possession of the ball and to give children every opportunity to develop and embrace the game of soccer.

SEASON SCHEDULE

Our Recreation Program runs from late August/early September (depending on the Madison Public School calendar) through October (possibly early November, due to weather cancellations) and entails a weekly practice session with a team-dedicated NYRB trainer along with a weekly match on Saturdays. IMPORTANT REGISTRATION INFORMATION

Registration Deadline: On-Time Registration will close on July 31st in order for us to create all 40+ teams and place the uniform orders on time to ensure their arrival prior to September 6. Any players registering after that date will NOT be guaranteed their team placement and their uniforms will arrive AFTER the season starts.

Refund Policy: The Madison Soccer Club will NOT issue refunds/credits after July 31st.

Confirmation of School Grade:  Parents should confirm that the Fall 2025 grade information (upcoming school year) entered on their child's registration form is correct (please pay particular attention when registering multiple children on the same form). The Madison Soccer Club will NOT issue refunds/credits and may not be able to honor parent/player requests for team placements due to incorrect grade information.

Review Listing of Schools: We ask that you review the following list of schools prior to registering your children. If your child's school is not included please let us know before you register. Acorn Academy, Acton Academy, Atlantic Health Childrens Connection, Bright Horizons, Central Avenue School, Chatham Day School, Chatham Methodist Preschool, Chatham Middle School, Delbarton, Far Brook School, Florham Park Schools, Gingham Giraffe, Goddard School, Harding Township Schools, Holy Family School, Homeschooled, Husonway Immersion School, Kent Place School, Kings Road School, Kirby-YMCA School, Lafayette School, Learning Path, Little Lambs, London Day School, Long Hill Christian Preschool, Madison Community House, Madison Co-op, Madison Junior School, Madison Montessori, Magic Kingdom School, Memorial Junior School, Mendham Country Day School, Montessori Academy, Newark Academy, Peck School, Pingry, Primrose School, Rainbow Montessori, Red Oaks School, Santa Fe Child Center, Seton Hall Prep, Shepard School, Somerset Hills Montessori, St. Elizabeth, St. James School, St. Patrick's School, St. Vincent's Martyr School, Stanley Preschool, Temple B'Nai Or, Torey J School, and Winston School.

Player Requests: Player requests are only valid for Pre-K/Kindergarten, Grades 1/2, and Grades 3/4.  Player requests entered for Grades 5 - 8 will NOT be honored (our goal is to balance teams by grade so it is often not possible to honor such requests). Parents should use this field to have siblings in the same division (e.g., Grades 1/2 Girls) placed on the same team (please remember our teams are NOT coed). Parents can also request that their child be placed with their friends using this field. There is no need to enter requests such as "With other KRS students" if your child attends KRS.  For Grades 3/4 only, parents may request ONE friend using this field (all other names entered will be deleted). This request will only be honored if their friend is registered AND they requested your child on their registration. For example, if Stan requests Oliver and Oliver requests Stan the request will be honored. However, if Lucy requests Ethel and Ethel does not request Lucy the request will NOT be honored.

Travel Players: Travel players are permitted to participate in our Recreation program under certain circumstances. Travel players from ANY Club MUST identify themselves as travel players and list their Club and Team in the player request field. Travel players will be allocated across all teams in that division to balance the teams so other player requests may not be honored for these players.  Failure to identify as a travel player may result in the changing of teams or the removal from our program without any refunds/credits.

Please email president@madisonhardingsoccer.com and/or recreation-coordinator@madisonhardingsoccer.com with questions on our Recreation Program.

PARENT COACHES

Our program relies on the help and support of parent coaches. With over 500 children in last year’s program, participation continues to increase. We will have 40 teams which will require at least 80 parent coaches! Your support allows us to run the best recreation program available.

Requirements for parent coaches are as follows:

  • Send out TeamSnap updates
  • Send out TeamSnap game day reminders
  • Distribute uniforms to your team
  • Support the Red Bulls Head Coach and organize your team on game day
  • Attend all games
  • Ensure that at least 1 parent attends the weekly practice (Pre-K through Grade 2 only)
  • Conduct optional coach practices to develop game-day strategies (Grades 3 - 8 only)

Parent coaches are NOT required to attend weekly practices but are encouraged to do so.  Multiple parent coaches are encouraged to support each team. Parent coaches will have their child automatically placed on their team. If you are interested in helping with this year's program please check the coaching interest box in the registration form.

YOUTH REFEREES

Our program also relies on the help and dedication of our youth referees who are all students in our community. Any 8th - 12th grader interested in being a referee should email president@madisonhardingsoccer.com and/or recreation-coordinator@madisonhardingsoccer.com to have their names put on our referees list.
